From Degraded Drylands to Green Landscapes - A Special Tribute to the Future Policy Award 2017

31/10/2017 - 12:30 - 14:00

On 31st October, 12:30-2pm, you are warmly invited to join this special homage to the Future Policy Award 2017 at the UN Library Geneva, hosted by the UN Library in Geneva, World Future Council, the United Nations Convention to Combat Desertification, University of Oxford’s Enacting Global Transformation and the Theatre of Transformation Academy, Green Cross International, and the Permanent Mission of Ethiopia to the United Nations.

Desertification is one of the most serious environmental challenges of our time: Every minute we lose the equivalent of 30 football fields of soil to degradation. We urgently need to act. Can we empower the people at risk? Can we transform drylands, the most conflict-prone regions of the world? Can we protect arid lands from extreme weather events? This special event showcases how the destructive drama of desertification can become a constructive theatre of land restoration, through a compelling combination of a multi-cultural presentation-performance, a high-level roundtable with distinguished experts, and an interactive dialogue with the audience.
